Call for Support of City Council Action on Sales Tax

The City Council has been studying a comprehensive Sales Tax Initiative & Strategic Plan funded by a one-cent city sales tax that includes a jobs initiative plan. Tomorrow the Council will be making important decisions about how to proceed with funding the four items that the community has identified as their top priorities:  water supply, jobs creation, public transit, and pavement maintenance.

Several editorials were recently published in support of the jobs initiative plan in local publications:

Securing jobs for Wichita – August 1, Wichita Business Journal
Let citizens vote on Wichita’s priorities – August 3, Wichita Eagle

Some area business leaders have committed to attending tomorrow’s meeting to visibly demonstrate the business community’s support for the jobs initiative plan. We invite you to join other area business leaders at 9:15 a.m. tomorrow in the Council Chambers on the first floor of City Hall (455 N. Main). Please RSVP to Jan Baggett via email or phone (268-1113) if you plan to attend.
