Dundas receives Lifetime Sales Achievement Award

One of our favorite things to do is celebrate milestones with our member businesses. Almost equally as exciting is celebrating milestones in the careers of our employees, and today we have that opportunity.

Kresta Dundas, Director of Membership Development for the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce, has been recognized with the ACCE’s (Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives) Lifetime Sales Achievement Award. Kresta was honored in the Silver Category, meaning she is responsible for 750 new members or $300,000+ in sales over the course of her Chamber career. The official announcement was made in July at the ACCE’s national conference in Nashville.

Kresta joined the Chamber in July 2012. Her responsibilities include overseeing the sales of Chamber memberships, the retention of current members, representing the Chamber at Member Milestone events, and helping businesses get the most value from their membership investment.

“Kresta is an amazing asset to any business, big or small,” said Heather Branson, CEO of Dynamic Sign Solutions. “Her desire to help others grow their organization, along with the Chamber resources she provides, are well worth our annual Wichita Chamber membership dues. The business relationships she can help spark, the wisdom she can share, and her caring demeanor make her a quality investment.”

“Kresta is a key member of our leadership team and is committed to ensuring businesses are successful in their Chamber membership,” said Gary Plummer, Chamber President/CEO.  “She is most deserving of this recognition, and we are proud of her contributions to the Wichita Chamber and our region.”

She has more than 15 years of marketing and sales experience, including nine years in media sales. She is a graduate of Wichita State University and a volunteer for various animal welfare causes.

Please join us in congratulating Kresta!

Strengthening and Diversifying Our Membership

A group of volunteers gathered at 7:30 a.m. this morning to discuss the importance of Chamber membership. Over the next two weeks these dedicated Chamber members will be asking their colleagues at other organizations to consider joining the Chamber. We’re fortunate to have such remarkable volunteers who are committed to strengthening and diversifying our membership. Their important work helps ensure the Chamber will continue to be a dynamic coalition supporting the economic growth and community advancement of the Wichita region.

You may be aware of a local business leader who has expressed interest in becoming more actively involved in shaping the region’s business environment. If so, please share with them why you devote your own time and resources to strengthening Wichita’s business voice. Encourage them to contact Kresta Dundas (316-268-1115 or kdundas@wichitachamber.org) for more information about the benefits of Chamber membership.

Please help us thank this devoted team of volunteers (especially event co-chairs Andrea Scarpelli of Simmons Bank and Michael Monteferrante of Envision) for enlisting other businesses in our ongoing effort to make Wichita the premier place to grow companies, careers and communities. See our Facebook album for photos of this morning’s event.

Event Co-Chair Andrea Scarpelli addresses the volunteers at the breakfast kickoff.

Boost your business – at a discount!

Formulated for the self-made business owner and fortified with the knowledge of fellow business mavericks, these three-hour workshops are a fast-acting dose of practical know-how you can immediately put to use to beef up your business’ bottom line. Each class is typically $50, but Chamber members can participate for $40. A list of the upcoming classes is below.

Please visit wichita.edu/BusinessBooster for more information on the Business Booster courses, and visit our website for more information on other educational opportunities.

An award for recruiting at least six new memberships was presented to Michael Frimel, Consolidated Holdings, Inc.; Chad Glenn, 3ten Studio; and Kirk Howie, Cornejo & Sons Inc.

An award for displaying outstanding dedication during the event was presented to Wayne Chambers, High Touch Technologies; Brandon Converse, Keating & Associates; Marty Cornejo, Cornejo & Sons Inc.; Tom Dondlinger, Dondlinger & Sons Construction Company Inc.; Moji Fanimokun, Kansas Secured Title; Jeff Fluhr, Wichita Downtown Development Corporation; Don Harris, Spirit AeroSystems, Inc.; Michael Monteferrante, Envision, Inc.; and Sean Weaver, Allen, Gibbs & Houlik, L.C.

Record-Breaking Membership Event Underway

IMG_4490with info removed

Volunteers David King and Laura King celebrate bringing in a new Chamber member during the first day of the 2015 Membership Event. More than 100 new members joined the Chamber on the first day of the event.

They did it! Our Chamber volunteers had a record-breaking first day during our 2015 Membership Event. On Tuesday the Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce became the first Chamber in the state of Kansas to bring in 101 new members on the first day of a scheduled event. And our enthusiastic volunteers did it in just six hours!

More than 250 Chamber members are devoting time this week to growing our membership and including more area businesses in the important effort to grow Wichita. A larger membership base strengthens the Chamber advocacy efforts for pro-business legislation, infrastructure improvements, and education/workforce development. Scoring a home-run in all three of these three areas makes it easier to retain our established companies and grow new businesses.

This week’s work helps ensure the Chamber’s Vision to make Wichita the premier place to grow companies, careers and communities. Thanks to our members and staff for their dedication to this important effort.

The Event concludes on Thursday, April 9. If you know of a company that wants to be part of advancing Wichita, please ask them to call Kresta Dundas at 268-1115 for membership information.
